The position:
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic and practical legal support across a broad range of commercial, intellectual property, technology, contractual and other business matters in an international environment. You will act as a trusted business partner, advising stakeholders on legal risks and opportunities, supporting commercial initiatives and innovation projects. You will help the company navigate legal risks, unlock opportunities and achieve its objectives while maintaining high standards of compliance, governance and risk management.
A key aspect of the role is supporting the group's innovation, technology and digital transformation initiatives across the organization, as well as protecting and enforcing the company's intellectual property rights worldwide. You will serve as a subject matter expert on intellectual property, technology, data privacy and related legal matters, while also contributing to a wider range of legal topics as part of a versatile and business-oriented legal team. The role therefore requires both strong specialist expertise and a broad commercial legal mindset, with the ability to deliver practical and solution-oriented advice across diverse business issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to business stakeholders on operational and strategic matters.
- Partner with business teams to identify legal risks, assess opportunities and develop pragmatic, business-focused solutions.
- Draft, review, negotiate and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including software, SaaS, licensing, cloud services, technology development, R&D, partnership and other strategic contracts.
- Lead and support the protection, management and enforcement of the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, know-how, and trade secrets.
- Advise on intellectual property matters related to products, innovation, research and development, and commercial activities.
- Provide legal guidance on information technology, digital transformation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software development and other technology-driven initiatives.
- Support privacy, data protection and data governance programs, including GDPR compliance and related regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments, specifically with regard to intellectual property, technology, digital activities, privacy and cybersecurity, as well as broader commercial matters, and translate them into actionable guidance for the business.
- Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal risk awareness, intellectual property protection, and best practices.
- Manage intellectual property or commercial disputes, infringement matters, commercial claims and other contentious issues, working closely with external counsel and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with dispute prevention and management, including coordination with external counsel when necessary.
- Support cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Contribute to corporate governance, compliance, and risk management initiatives.
Educational background, experience and skills:
- Master's degree in law, with a specialization in Intellectual Property, IT, Technology, or Business Law.
- Minimum 8 years of experience gained both in a law firm and as an in-house practitioner.
- Strong expertise in IP, IT, technology transactions, and commercial law.
- Solid experience drafting and negotiating agreements in an international setting.
- Knowledge of data protection and digital regulatory frameworks.
- Business-oriented mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in French and English.
